| A secondary school band director focuses on teaching
ensemble performance. The goal of the director is for students to
aspire to higher levels of musical understanding, performance, and
experience through this type of group experience. |
| "A chain is only as strong as its weakest link."
Every band/organization works as a chain, depending on each and every
person to perform to the best of his/her ability. Therefor, the high
school grading policy places a great amount of reward on individual
playing growth. |
| Students are seated according to their musical and technical
proficiency on the instrument. This is done to insure proper blend
and balance throughout the ensemble. Chair placement of students is
based on auditions which are held at least once a quarter. Each student
is responsible for his or her own performance and it should be understood
that the success of others is beyond one's control. |
