Patrick Burke :: Director of Bands

Patrick Burke has been at Hayfield since 1988 serving as the director and instructor of the Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Music Theory and middle school classes such as Beginning Percussion and Cadet Band. After-school ensembles have included Jazz Band, Pep Band, Pit Orchestra and Full Orchestra. Mr. Burke is a graduate of The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he graduated with honors and was the top graduate in his class. He served as the Tennessee representative to the band of the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, California. Mr. Burke has served as the vice president of the Fairfax County Band Directors Association, and as the District Ten representative to the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors' Association. He has served as a clinician and adjudicator to concert festivals across the northeast.

Stephanie Lewis :: Assistant Director

Stephanie Lewis received her Bachelor of Music from George Mason University. She recently accepted a teaching position in Fairfax County Public Schools as assistant band director at Hayfield Secondary. Before moving to Hayfield Secondary, she was Director of Bands at Ocean Lakes High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Ms. Lewis has worked and studied with such conductors as Charles Burke, Kenneth Kiesler, Anthony Maiello, Robert Page and Gunther Schuller. Ms. Lewis has conducted the United States Atlantic Fleet Band and was a participating conductor of The Conductor's Retreat at Medomak under the direction of Kenneth Kiesler. Ms. Lewis is a member of Music Educators' National Conference, Virginia Music Educators Association and The Conductor's Guild.
