Spring Trip, April 25-27, 2003, Williamsburg, VA Due to events beyond the music department's control, and based upon recommendations of the parents at the March 26 meeting, we have retooled our trip. This year, the band and orchestra program is sponsoring a spring trip to Williamsburg, Virginia on April 25-27. The members of the Symphonic and Chamber Orchestras, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, and Color Guard are eligible to attend. At the moment we have been able to recoup all funds except the cost of the Broadway show tickets, which cost $55 each. The band and orchestra boosters are working diligently to sell these tickets and recoup this money. This process will take time, and any refunds may take many weeks. If there are tickets left unsold, we will divide the cost of those tickets and assess each person signed up for the New York trip. This will be deducted from the fees paid for the original trip. The trip price includes two (2) nights lodging, bus transportation, performance fees, two (2) breakfasts, one (1) dinner, and entrance to Busch Gardens. Students will need to bring money for two (2) lunches and extraneous shopping. The cost will be $250. Many of you have made payments to the previous trip which we will transfer over to this trip with your permission. If you have not made any payments, or have made payments less than the cost of this trip, then the balance is due immediately. Those who wish not to go will receive a refund in the amount paid minus the balance of fees not recouped by the New York trip. Please understand that the status of this trip can change at any time. With the security concerns that befall our community and country, Fairfax County has the right and the duty to cancel any trips at any time in the name of safety. This trip to Williamsburg can be canceled up to the day of the trip, and you will lose all money paid for this trip. CANCELED! Spring Trip, April 24-27, 2003, New York, N.Y. CANCELED! This year, the band and orchestra program is sponsoring a spring trip to New York City, on April 24-27. The members of the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, and Color Guard are eligible to attend. All students attending this trip have the school's permission to miss one of each class (a blue day and an orange day). There is a possibility that a conflict will arise with school activities, such as athletics. It is the Athletic department's policy that this spring trip will not be taken into consideration for participation on a spring team. However, it is the coach's duty to show fairness to all students participating. You should take this into consideration. The trip price includes three nights lodging, bus transportation, performance fees, three (3) breakfasts, three (3) dinners, a Broadway show, tours to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, NBC Studios tour, a tour of the USS Itrepid Carrier, the Empire State Building, the United Nations, and more. Students will need to bring money for three (3) lunches, one (1) breakfast, and extraneous shopping. The cost will be $425. This cost will be divided into four (4) payments of $106.25 as follows: Make all checks to Hayfield Band Boosters. Fees will be adjusted from monies in fund raisers and student accounts. All fees paid will be refunded if the trip is canceled. Once a deposit has been made, the deposit is non-refundable. Subsequent payments are non-refundable due to payments based on original number of deposits. Spring Trip, Friday, May 30, 2003, Busch Gardens This year, the concert band is sponsoring a spring trip to Busch Gardens on Friday, May 30, 2003.
