Students and Parents,

I must inform you that we have made some revisions to the trip. These revisions have affected 1) the performance of each of the groups, and 2) the cost.

There were certain costs that were not included in the original proposal, and as such, were not included in the total price. In order to include all costs, and still maintain a high quality experience, we changed the performance. We will be visiting Rutgers University for a performance with esteemed music faculty in their music department. Students will get a first hand look and a premier music department in a top-notch university, as well as advice and critiques from nationally known music scholars.

The cost of the trip has changed to $685.00. This change came about because of transportation mostly, but with the change in performance venues, extra time in the city required another activity.

All persons who have made payments previously will be given the option of applying that payment to the new deposit, or receiving a full refund. You must state your intentions by the deposit date, November 4, in order to receive the full refund.

It is our intention to provide a meaningful, educational trip at a price that allows the maximum number of students to attend. I hope you will allow your child to be a part of this great opportunity.

Spring Trip ~ April 15-18, 2010 ~ New York, NY

                                                           Revision

This year the high school music department is sponsoring a spring trip to New York, New York on April 15-18, 2010.  The purpose of this trip is to perform in clinic session before highly skilled clinicians at a well respected university.  In addition, we will experience the educational culture and diversity that makes New York a great destination.

All students have permission to miss two days of classes (one orange day and one blue day).  All schoolwork must be completed, subject to the wishes of the classroom teachers.  There is a possibility that a conflict will arise with a school activity such as athletics.  The athletic department’s policy is that our spring trip will not be taken into consideration for participation on a team.  However, it is the coach’s duty to show fairness to all students.  Please take this into consideration.

The trip includes 3 night’s lodging, bus transportation, Clinican and performance fees, 2 breakfasts, 2 dinners, a ticket to a major Broadway performance, admission to New York attractions that may include The Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island or Rockefeller Center.  Also included is a boat ride aboard Cruise Line Tours around Manhattan.  Students will need to bring money for 1 breakfast, 1 dinner, 4 lunches, and leisurely shopping.  The cost for chaperones will be the same as for the students.

The cost will be $685.00 and will be divided into 4 payments of $171.25 as follows:

Payment #1………………………………………………due by November 4

Payment #2………………………………………………due by December 4

                Payment #3…………………………………………….due by January 4

                Payment #4…………………………………………….due by February 4

Please make all checks payable to Hayfield Secondary School.  Fees will be adjusted using money from each student’s individual fundraising account with his or her booster organization.  All fees paid that have not already been encumbered will be refunded if the trip is cancelled.

PLEASE NOTE: Non-refundable deposits need to be made for this trip.  Trip payments that are already received may not be refunded unless an approved substitute is found.  A student, who makes payments and then decides not to attend, must find another music student to take his or her place.  Otherwise, he or she will forfeit those payments.  This student’s replacement choice is subject to the approval of his or her director.

Please fill out the bottom portion of this form and return it along with the first non-refundable payment of $170.00 by November 4, 2009.
