Student times and room numbers are listed below, by school (middle or high).

 

Students are expected to arrive at least 30 minutes before performance time to check in and warm-up. when considering clothing, please "dress to impress" !  Ratings will be posted in a common area shortly after your performance.

 

All students must have an original score for the judge. Judges WILL NOT evaluate any student with a copy of a score, or no score at all. Please number each measure of the judges score, as well as your own music.

 

 

From Holmes Middle School Directors:

1.  Students should arrive at least 20-30 minutes prior to performance time.

 

2.  Use the entrance # 1 to Holmes Middle School.  This entrance is at the front of the building.

 

3.  Students must remain in the designated warm-up rooms prior to their performance so that guides will be able to locate and escort them easily to their performance room.  Assemble by your performance room number in the gym at least 10 minutes before your scheduled performance time. Guides will not go looking for performers!

 

4.  It is the student’s responsibility to meet their accompanist at the gym or performance room.  Tell them the room number ahead of time.  Guides will not go looking for accompanists! 

 

5.  Any student missing his/her performance will not be rescheduled, nor will a refund be granted.

 

6.  Students must provide an original (not a photocopy) of the music they are performing for the judge with every measure numbered.  You will take this original music from the judge when you finish performing.

 

7.  Pieces with an accompaniment must be performed with either a pianist or a taped/cd accompaniment (students must provide their own tape/cd player).  Students performing without the required accompaniment will receive “comments only”.

 

8.  Dress nicely - no shorts/jeans/athletic clothing.  One of the grades that you receive from the judge is on your appearance - an easy “A” if you dress nicely.

 

9.  Results will be posted in the cafeteria.  Judges rating sheets will be sent only to directors.  Students should not ask the judge or guide for their rating sheet.

 

10.  Family and guests are welcome to listen to the performance, as long as it is acceptable to both judge and performer. There should be no talking or taking of pictures during the performance.

 

11.  Refreshments will be available for purchase in the cafeteria.
