Patrick Burke has been at Hayfield since 1988 serving as the director and instructor of the Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Guitar I and II, Music Theory and middle school classes such as Beginning Percussion Cadet Band and General Music. Since 2002, Mr. Burke is the Fine Arts Chair for middle and high school performing and visual arts. After-school ensembles have included Jazz Band, Pep Band, Pit Orchestra and Full Orchestra.

 Mr. Burke is a graduate of The University of Tennessee in Knoxville with a Bachelor of Science in Instumental Music, and George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia with a Masters of Arts in Teaching. The Hayfield Bands have performed  at such events as the Virginia Music Educators Convention, and W.E.T.A. radio's "Outstanding Young Artists in our Community" concert. The bands have also performed in such venues as riverside church in New york City, and the concert stage at The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Mr. Burke has received commendations from the National Band Directors Association, The Virginia Band and Orchestra Association, and is the recipient of the "Hawk Award" from Hayfield Secondary School. Mr. Burke has served as the vice president of the Fairfax County Band Directors Association, and as the District Ten representative to the Virgina Band and Orchestra Directors Association. He has served as a clinician and adjudicator to concert festivals across the northeast.
Mr. Burke lives in Lorton,Virginia with his wife and two children.
